Takeout Restaurants in Iwakuni
Since dining out is off limits for those in support of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, we've compiled a list of some of our favorite restaurants offering takeout or delivery options to make your life a little easier. No pics or frills. Just the information you need, quick and to the point in no particular order. Be sure your translation feature is enabled on your phone or browser as some of menus included are in Japanese.

ITALIAN
Trattoria Cinque Ponte
This little gem is serving up beautiful hors d’oeuvre platters including smoked meats, roasted fish, and fried shrimp, perfect for a birthday, anniversary, or just because. Something a little smaller, perhaps? Trattoria’s got you covered. They also offer bento boxes and sandwiches and they’ll prepare your food for takeout or delivery. Campagne
Offering pizza and pasta takeout dishes, Campagne is a family favorite in Iwakuni. They serve Napoli style pizzas with classics like Margherita and prosciutto. Their pasta dishes range from Italian staples like carbonara to Japanese Italian mashups like creamy pasta with sea urchin pasta and spicy cod roe pasta with raw cuttlefish. Pizzeria da Hachi
This was one of the first restaurants we visited after moving to Japan. At Pizzeria da Hachi, the pizzas are made by hand in the front of the house and cooked in a beautiful wood fired Italian oven. Be sure to check their menu and call ahead, perhaps right around opening time, because it tends to get busy!

Fukuoka
Another Iwakuni favorite, Fukuoka also makes their pizzas right at the front of the house which makes for easy pick up and social distancing. Like many restaurants in the Yellow Brick Road area, Fukuoka gets busy around dinnertime so be sure to call ahead!

Domino’s
OK, yeah, Domino’s, not exactly something you’d expect to see on Crumb & Splatter but hear me out. There are some INSANE toppings available at Domino’s, like smoked salmon, mayonnaise, and tiger shrimp — WHAT?! — and you can order everything online for pick-up or delivery. For those living on base, Domino’s will deliver to the main gate and to the Atago Hills gate.

INDIAN
Srijana
This standalone Indian has a bomb ass spinach curry and incredible naan. Go for a set meal for more bang for your buck and be sure to get extra naan. You won’t regret it.

Ganesh
There are two Ganesh locations in Iwakuni. One, which you might be more familiar with lies right on the main drag across the street from Iwakuni Station (and then a few blocks down, but you get the idea). This is the one we frequent. We always get the set meal and order garlic cheese naan (that combination is not on the menu but they will combine flavors for a few extra yenjamins).

Devi
Another great Indian joint, Devi also has more than one location. This one is located at Four Corners right by the front gate. Their coconut naan is to die for. Grab a set meal and see if you can have them pack up a lassi to go. It’s a sweet yogurt based drink that’s spiced or flavored with fruit and you need it in your life.

FILIPINO
Pinoy Cuisine
Hold the phone. There’s pancit and lumpia in Iwakuni? Mmmhmm! Pinoy is offering a takeout menu including the aforementioned Filipino staples as well as chicken barbecue, longsilog (sausage and eggs), danggit (salted fish) with fried rice, and various other dishes. Need it delivered? The folks at Pinoy will deliver to the MCAS Iwakuni’s main gate, just give them a call!

OKINAWAN
Greed Spice
Ah, taco rice. The Okinawan Tex-Mex mashup is Greed Spice’s specialty. The rice comes with seasoned meat and you choose the toppings. You can adorn your taco rice with everything from jalapeños to shrimp. They also offer sides like gyzoa and French fries. Check out their menu and give ‘em a call.

Grand Chief
Slingin’ 100% Wagyu beef patties, Grand Chief is a staple for many in Iwakuni. They have a drive-thru for easy pick-up and, wait for it, a tee-pee. In addition to conventional burgers, Grand Chief serves specialty items like teriyaki egg and habanero pineapple. Not a fan of beef? They have chicken sandwiches, salads, and buffalo wings. Rai Rai Tei
Rai Rai Tei is offering two to-go ramen options: soy ramen and rich ramen. You do not need to bring a container but consider bringing a resuable grocery bag as the ramen ingredients are packaged separately. Oh, and if you’re still hungry, they also offer fried rice, gyoza, dim sum, and fried chicken! #nomnom

YAMABIKO
Known for their incredible tonkotsu ramen, Yamabiko is offering to-go ramen. Yamabiko uses a vending machine ordering system. Input your money first and then hand your ticket to the individual in the kitchen and you’ll have your go-go deliciousness in no time! Containers are an additional ¥50. Never heard of tonkotsu ramen? Kinba
Slingin’ Okonomiyaki and a handful of other dishes, Kinba will happily prepare your pancakey noodle goodness for you to take home. They have everything from Hiroshima style to spicy Korean okonomiyaki. Check out their menu and give them a call!

Kaito
Better known as “the pink sushi-go-round,” Kaito is offering variety of sushi and roll options to-go. You can even order online! Everything from shrimp, tuna, and salmon, you can grab a sushi box to try a little of everything. This sushi-go-round is incredibly popular with both Japanese locals and Americans. They are offering takeout sushi platters, desserts, and even their famous Shari-Cola, an alcohol-free white soft drink made from fermented sushi rice. Check out their takeout menu and be sure to call ahead.

Sukiya has a number of dishes available for takeout like beef bowls, pork curry, even minced tuna bowls, but no matter what you do, be sure to get the clam soup. It’s amazing! You must first order at one of the touch screens (don’t worry, there’s an English option), and then hand your ticket to the cashier. You can always wait in your car and head back inside after 10-15 minutes so you can maintain proper social distancing.

You’ll crave salad after visiting Mameka. Yes. Crave. Made with local fruit and veggies, expect something different and lovely every time you go! For the month of April, Mameka is doing a to-go dinner menu for pick up from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Should you require delivery, send them a Facebook message at least one day prior and they will deliver to the following locations depending on your need: Minami-Iwakuni Station, the Monzen gate, and the Atago Hills gate.

Nestled between Mameka and VegeTrip, 18Store offers lattes, ice cream (the black sesame is our favorite), and deli box set meals to go! Their menu is seasonal, so expect fresh, local ingredients. Right now, 18Store is offering a set meal to include Mameka’s Power Salad, bread, and a drink.

VegeTrip
There are now two VegeTrip locations, one at the Iwakuni Station and one right next to 18Store. We’re sharing the latter location because there will likely be less foot traffic and subsequent sickies there. VegeTrip specializes in fresh juices and smoothies, some piled high with fresh fruit. They also sell fresh produce and delicious muffins!

Melon de Melon
Near Nafco, Melon de Melon slings all kinds of yummy pastries, namely melonpan, which is basically a cake-like pastry with a crunchy biscuity top. These delicious morsels come in all kinds of flavors like strawberry, cinnamon, and chocolate, and go well warmed up with coffee or tea in the morning.
